Veterans Day

November 11, 2019

On Veterans Day, we recognize and honor the sacrifices made by the millions of Americans and their families who have served our nation both in times of peace and war.

As citizens of our great nation, we should remember that one of the fundamental principles upon which our country was founded is the freedom we enjoy each day. Such freedom is hard-won by the service of our troops. We recognize these individuals from generations both past and present have consistently chosen, and continue to choose, to serve our nation – often at significant personal cost. These men and women have stood by, ready to protect and defend our nation and cherished freedoms, time and time again.

Veterans Day is not simply a holiday; it represents something that should resonate deeply within each and every one of our hearts. Utah is home to a large number of servicemen, servicewomen and veterans – over 143,500, according to the U.S. Census Bureau – who have dedicated, and sometimes given, their lives in service of our country.

We express our deepest gratitude to and wish to honor the contributions made by those who have served our country in the past and those serving now. They show great courage, commitment and patriotism. They represent the best of us.
