“As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.” — John F. Kennedy
On a day the entire nation sets aside to express their thanks, we would like to express our gratitude for being able to live in Utah. The greatest way to express gratitude to others is through service – a sentiment clearly shared by many in our state, as Utah has consistently ranked first in the nation for volunteer work.
A research study published by Harvard Health shows that gratitude is consistently associated with greater happiness. The act of expressing gratitude, “helps people feel more positive emotions, relish good experiences, improve their health, deal with adversity and build strong relationships.”
As you gather to express your gratitude this Thanksgiving, take the time to consider how you can continue to cultivate and express that same feeling of gratitude during all year long. Choose not only to express gratitude today but to live your life so you can find gratitude in each and every day. In so doing, we can create a cycle of service and thanks for both ourselves and those around us.
