On February 12, 2019, Senators honored those who have fallen in the line of duty. Officers David Romrell and Dennis Vincent were recognized as heroes by the Utah Senate, staff and guests. Officer Romrell was tragically shot in the line of duty in November 2018 while protecting the community of South Salt Lake. Officer Vincent suffered a stroke after completing an annual mandatory fitness exam on October 18, 2018. He passed away eight days later after everything medically possible was done.
Honoring their lives, the Senate welcomed the families of both officers onto the Senate floor to thank them for their sacrifice.
