One of the many duties of Utah State senators is to review and approve nominations for vacant public positions such as judges, council members, board members, commissioners, etc. made by the governor. On May 15, 2019, the Senate confirmed the following appointments made by Governor Gary Herbert:
Second District Court Judge Reuben Renstrom Utah Housing Corporation Board of Trustees Jessica Norie (D) is appointed to replace Mark Cohen (U) as the home building industry representative on the Utah Housing Corporation Board of Trustees, a term to expire May 31, 2023. See Utah Code § 63H-8-201. Annette Lowder (D) is appointed to replace Cathy Burrows (R) as a mortgage lending industry representative on the Utah Housing Corporation Board of Trustees, a term to expire May 31, 2023. See Utah Code § 63H-8-201. Lee A. Carter (R) is appointed to replace Robert Majka (U) as a public member on the Utah Housing Corporation Board of Trustees, a term to expire May 31, 2023. See Utah Code § 63H-8-201. Health Facility Committee Bradley C. Albrechtsen is appointed to replace Bryan Erickson as a nursing care facility representative on the Health Facility Committee, a term to expire July 1, 2023. See Utah Code § 26-21-3. Labor Commission Appeals Board Joseph E. Hatch is reappointed as a member of the Labor Commission Appeals Board, a term to expire February 28, 2020. See Utah Code § 34A-1-205. Securities Commission Lyndon L. Ricks is appointed to replace Brent R. Baker as a Corporate Member representative on the Securities Commission, a term to expire August 1, 2023. See Utah Code § 61-1-18.5. Lyle White is reappointed as a member of the Securities Commission, a term to expire August 1, 2023. See Utah Code § 61-1-18.5. Utah Athletic Foundation Board of Directors Wayne Niederhauser is appointed as a member of the Utah Athletic Foundation Board of Directors, a term to expire March 1, 2022. Utah Arts Council Board of Directors Kimi Kawashima is appointed to replace Caleb Chapman as a music representative on the Utah Arts Council Board of Directors, a term to expire June 30, 2023. See Utah Code § 9-6-204. Jansen N. Davis is reappointed as a member of the Utah Arts Council Board of Directors, a term to expire June 30, 2023. See Utah Code § 9-6-204. Board of State History Heather A. Wilson is appointed to replace Yvette Donosso as a member of the Board of State History, the remaining portion of the term to expire October 31, 2019. See Utah Code § 9-8-204. Air Quality Board John Rasband is appointed to replace Mike Smith as the Manufacturing Industry representative on the Air Quality Board, a term to expire March 1, 2023. Niehaus is appointed to replace David Ogden as a member of the Water Quality Board, a term to expire March 1, 2021. See Utah Code § 19-5-103. Brandon Gordon is appointed to replace Myron Bateman as a member of the Water Quality Board, a term to expire March 1, 2023. See Utah Code § 19-5-103. Board of Oil, Gas and Mining Stephen B.
