Fiscally Responsible Tax Cuts

Our commitment to responsible financial stewardship has driven remarkable growth and resilience, enabling tax reductions of more than $1.3 billion over the past four years, all while making historic investments in education, water conservation and infrastructure, homelessness, affordable housing and energy.

To support Utah’s family and business-friendly environment, in the past four years, we have:

  • Reduced income tax from 4.95% to 4.55%.
  • Expanded the child tax credit for children under 5 years of age.
  • Enacted the adoption tax credit.
  • Eliminated social security tax for individuals making up to $75,000.
  • Provided a low-income housing tax credit for Utahns.

This session, our dedication to tax relief for Utahns remains unwavering. We will continue to identify areas needing targeted support and implement policies that protect Utahns while preserving the state's strong tradition of fiscal stewardship.

Utah is the nation’s most resilient state in the face of economic uncertainties, consistently ranked as the best state for economic outlook over the past 17 years and as the best-managed state two years in a row. We are committed to positioning Utah for today’s needs and tomorrow’s demands by prioritizing strategic investments and fiscally responsible budget choices.
